sohls - Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

On January 13, 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation designating January 22 as the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day, the day closest to the U.S. Supreme Court decision which legalized abortion in all 50 states.  President Reagan proclaimed this date in history stating, “I call upon the citizens of this blessed land to gather on that day in homes and places of worship to give thanks for the gift of life, and to reaffirm our commitment to the dignity of every human being and the sanctity of each human life.”

Churches across the nation use this day to celebrate God’s gift of life, commemorate the many lives lost to abortion, and commit themselves to protecting human life at every stage.  We continue to uphold the third Sunday in January as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (SOHLS).  Click here to view a short video.

How to participate

Your church can recognize SOHLS and celebrate LIFE with the Pregnancy Resource Center through our annual Gift for Life baby bottle campaign.  It is simple, fun and brings awareness to your congregation of God’s value for life in the womb, and gives people the opportunity to participate in saving lives.  Empty baby bottles are distributed for people to fill with their loose change, cash or checks, and then are returned to the church.  The funds generated go directly to PRC allowing us to continue providing free and confidential services of practical help and hope to those facing unplanned pregnancies.  Give today.

Churches can invite a PRC representative to share about our ministry on this Sunday and ways in which the body of Christ can make a difference for LIFE.
